Vishal Bali quits Fortis Healthcare as group CEO

Vishal Bali has resigned as the group chief executive officer of Fortis Healthcare Ltd, Mint reported. Bali will remain with the company till the end of March to enable a smooth transition. Fortis is India’s largest hospital chain promoted by billionaire brothers Malvinder Mohan Singh and Shivinder Mohan Singh. The report added that Bali’s responsibilities will be shared by Shivinder Mohan Singh, executive vice-chairman, and Aditya Vij, who, as CEO-India, will continue to oversee the India business.

Mint quoted Bali as saying, “My decision to move is personal. After having spent 23 years in the sector, I now feel the desire to do something entrepreneurial in healthcare. I am happy that I am leaving behind a better company than it was a few years back.”

Bali was the chief executive of Wockhardt Hospitals Group in India until it was acquired by Fortis in 2009.
