As per the new policies the concept of the “deemed university” in India will soon be ancient history. According to Human Resources Minister Kapil Sibal, the a policy is being established to see that all such universities go. The government having just moved an affidavit before the Supreme Court to this effect, apparently being part of a larger university reform track. The news also suggests current student in these schools will not be penaluized in any way.According to Sibal; “The concept of deemed universities from the country will go in the near future and this is part of the reform process. We are putting in place the required legislations".Nearly 200,000 students are enrolled in such establishments across India.
