The Core Purpose Cadbury believes in is to create brands people love and this Core Purpose captures the spirit of what to achieve as a business by involving team effort in converting products into brands. There is an interesting concept called ‘Passion for People’ in the company which is a structured program to help equip Line Managers in being effective and impactful People Managers. It concentrates on capturing the ‘essence’ of the work culture in terms of creating the right climate, sustaining what is unique, motivating teams, and achieving great results.
The ‘Purple Star’ Program is an entry level leaders program at Cadbury India. This helps in inducting fresh talent in the organization. Top talent from premier business schools is taken and provided with structured inputs. This is a one-year program during which trainees are given ample opportunities to interact with the senior management and share their views and opinions. Detailed feedback is given after each assignment. The program also helps in identifying strengths and areas of development of employees. Cadbury India gives a lot of importance to this as many of the ‘Purple Stars’ have grown and earned significant positions in the company.
The organization lays emphasis on succession planning through its Succession Planning Process to identify successors for critical positions. The Succession Planning Process aims to identify successors over three time horizons viz. Immediate successors (3-6 months), To be readied successors, and Potential successors over the long term (up to 3 years).
