Corus job cuts reach 4,500 in Britain, Netherlands
The leading steel-maker is planning to further cut down 2,500 jobs in Britain and Netherlands taking the total number of job-cuts to 4,500. The company has decided to do so due to a steep fall in the construction and automotive sector. Earlier they were planning to implement voluntary cuts but now they have to alter the cost structure. The British Government is also taking steps to help the company offering up to £5 million of training support to help secure jobs at Corus sites.
