With digital technology playing a role in nearly every aspect of our lives, it stands to reason that no element of work from any function is resistant to digital disruption. Infact, the digital technology is driving the decentralization of talent management and development as an HR activity. We are currently in the middle of an interesting period from HR perspective as interesting and innovative digital based HR practices are being adopted by the corporates around the world. 

Digital technologies enable greater integration and flexibility allowing employees to have a greater share of voice, and the ability to create their own work experiences. Digitalization is poised to radically disrupt HR, and redefine the future of the human resource function.

At Amway, a global company with presence in more than 100 countries and territories, going digital is a key mandate and a lot has already been done in this direction. We have implemented a self-service human resource management system (HRIS), offering services like Performance management, Development plan, Leave management, which has enabled the HR function to focus and invest more time in strategic talent related aspects. One will ask that such systems exist in almost all the global organizations. So, what’s new?

Well, we have gone a step ahead and transformed our Compensation Management online as well. An Amway associate can access/print his/her salary slip online, he/she can even print the bonus and increment letter online, anytime/anywhere. The process offers complete flexibility and thereby delight for the associates who can access confidential information at their own comfort.

We also have a state of the art virtual learning platform for our associates – the Amway University. It is an online portal which offers detailed learning opportunities on variety of subjects. It gives access to our associates to learn what they need to learn and develop when they need it and the way they need. The philosophy - BYOD (Bring your own device) – the ability to access it from the technology that best meets your needs. We acknowledge that each of us has unique way of learning and we are empowered to choose the mode that best suit us at our pace and in our own space, 24/7 anytime, anywhere.

Today, employee engagement has moved away from the traditional approach and follows new means of connecting and engaging with a prospective employee which starts even before the onboarding of an employee actually happens to create positive impressions. Going forward, we are working on creating and providing a best in class experience to new joinees and prospective candidates through our truly digital online boarding portal. Our onboarding portal will provide pre boarding engagement and share about Company’s culture and people practices and the much needed information to the new associate before he/she joins.

However, simply launching new initiatives is not enough to optimize results. It must also ensured that the HR led digital initiatives are fully integrated so it can act as a facilitator for both HR as well as the business. Today, the HR is swiftly expanding its reach to deliver seamless employee experiences and partnering with business in a smarter manner.
