IT major, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has fired an employee who was allegedly sending rape and death threats to women on social media platforms.

Since the messages were sent in the personal capacity, the company is unlikely to take legal recourse against the sacked employee. According to the reports, TCS started an investigation in the matter after the screenshots of abusive messages went viral on the internet. It is reported in media that the employee had admitted to having sent the threatening messages.

The company also added that they have zero tolerance towards any act which goes against our core values. And hence the employee has been relieved with immediate effect.

This is the latest case where an organization has sacked an employee over insensitive comments or hate speech. Earlier, after the Supreme Court decriminalized homosexuality, Tech Mahindra fired its former Chief Diversity Officer when a former employee employee criticized on social media  about homophobic harassment during his stint with the company.

In another incident in April this year, a Kotak Mahindra employee based was dismissed by the company for making insensitive comments about an 8-year-old girl who was gang-raped and murdered in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. The man posted derogatory comments on Facebook after which he was fired by the bank.
