Chetna’s journey into human resources was fueled by a desire to impact individuals and organisations positively. “I chose HR to make a positive difference to people, processes, and organisations,” she states, emphasising her commitment to enhancing workplace dynamics. Her vision for HR in 2025 centres on the integration of compassion, robust processes, right skilling, and technology to create sustainable business solutions. As an HRBP for approximately 500 employees, Chetna has played a pivotal role in developing HR capabilities that have added significant value to Flipkart. Her approach involves taking on challenges and stretch assignments that extend beyond her defined responsibilities, allowing her to hone various skills and learn diverse viewpoints. By identifying and aligning the right skills with available opportunities, she has successfully crafted meaningful career paths for employees. “I have effectively managed multiple organisational changes by closely working with leaders and managers to create a culture of transparency and communication,” she explains. 

Chetna's commitment to research-driven strategies has led to the implementation of multiple campaigns that have evolved into established practices and processes at Flipkart. Her holistic approach involves taking an outside-in perspective, ensuring that organisational needs are aligned with individual aspirations to create win-win solutions for all stakeholders involved.

Solving key talent challenges with compassion

In today's HR landscape, Chetna identifies a significant challenge: “The biggest problem statement is co-creating and enabling ecosystems that accommodate the changing expectations of work, including total rewards, well-being, quality of work, and a sense of belonging.” To address this issue, she emphasises the importance of continuous listening and coaching for managers and leaders. “I put in daily efforts to keep a strong pulse on the ground and couple it with data to create solutions that blend into ways of working,” she shares. This proactive approach has enabled her to coach managers on navigating difficult conversations around mental health concerns while balancing business needs.

Chetna has also facilitated the creation of safe spaces for employees, encouraging open dialogue about mental well-being. She provides managers with the necessary resources and support to tailor personalised solutions for team members, enhancing their sense of belonging and enabling them to bring their best selves to work. Reflecting on her experiences in 2024, Chetna focuses on the need for compassion and practical solutions in managing change. “Employees are seeking a greater sense of purpose, meaning in their work, and belonging at the workplace,” she notes, underscoring the responsibility of HR leaders to co-create solutions that resonate with these evolving expectations.
