10% of 2024 hires have roles that didn't exist in 2000

Over 10% of workers hired this year hold job titles that didn't exist two decades ago, according to LinkedIn's inaugural Work Change Snapshot. Emerging roles such as AI engineer, data scientist, and sustainability manager are reshaping industries and demanding a new set of skills.
This rapid evolution of the workplace is particularly evident in India, where 82% of business leaders acknowledge an accelerating pace of change. To stay competitive, 70% of these leaders are prioritizing the adoption of AI tools by 2025.
"AI is transforming the workplace like never before," said Ruchee Anand, India Head, LinkedIn Talent Solutions. "Embracing AI is not just about keeping pace; it's about empowering teams, fostering innovation, and creating resilient workforces."
The potential of generative AI is recognized by 90% of global leaders in India, with a strong focus on its adoption. Employees skilled in AI are 20 times more likely to develop essential soft skills like emotional intelligence and personal branding.
LinkedIn Learning's popular courses reflect this growing demand for soft skills, emphasizing their importance across all levels of seniority.
As the workforce continues to evolve, HR professionals are playing a critical role. In India, 69% of HR professionals feel that workplace expectations are at an all-time high, with many recognizing that experience alone is no longer sufficient. Embracing AI is seen as crucial for both individual and organizational success.
