PSG Institute of Management is one of the most reputed and sought after management institutes renowned for its excellence in management education for the past five decades. The institute is highly well-known for its ability to foster entrepreneurship among management graduates. The strategic priority of the institute is firmly rooted on its operating philosophy “Transforming Lives -Transcending Boundaries”. The institute firmly believes that it is in the business of transforming the lives of students into successful entrepreneurs.
The institute aims to impart and inculcate entrepreneurial skills among students through host of well-designed courses, programs and activities. After passing out, most of its students either become entrepreneurs independently or join their family business. To cite an example, 15 students of the institute currently are involved in start-ups during the course of study. One has successfully launched a magazine called “Coimbatore Hang Outs” and has already expanded his business in Chennai. Few are into talent development, restaurants, media and other businesses. Out of the 180 students, close to 50 per cent become entrepreneurs. The institute regularly organizes B-plan competitions, mentoring sessions with successful entrepreneurs, seminars and workshops to motivate and train students to become entrepreneurs.
The institute has also set up an exclusive outbound centre for training its students in areas of leadership, team building, communication, creativity and logical thinking. PSGIM is the first management institute in the country to get ACBSP recognition. The institute is currently in the process of getting AACSB accreditation as well. In alignment with its mission to produce world class business leaders and managers, PSGIM has joined hands with universities in the USA and Europe for faculty and students exchange program.
These programs help students and faculty members gain international exposure, do collaborative research and enable international internships and industrial visits. Every year, faculty members from its partner universities (University of Toledo and HOF University, Germany) visit the campus for teaching and joint research. Faculty members from PSGIM also visit these universities for teaching a few courses.
The creation of sustainable businesses and leaders who are strongly committed towards environmental sustainability is the need of the hour and PSGIM not only believes in creating value for its stakeholders but also embed the idea of sustainable development in all its thoughts and actions. PSG Group of Institutions has taken a lot of green initiatives with a clear objective of reducing the greenhouse gases emission considerably in all its energy usage and also substituting more non-conventional energies where ever possible. It has set a lot of ambitious goals to reduce energy consumption, proper waste management, to become water sustainable, to use electricity generated from renewable resources and to use recycled water and materials. These goals drive their decisions and the institute has also invested significantly in the financial year 2012-13 to fund various energy conservation activities and non-conventional energy generation.
