KIIT School of Management, Bhubaneswar believes in a strong education to employment system. The institute believes in not only providing placements through campus, but grooms students on lifelong employability. To achieve that, the institute believes in simple metrics that start with knowledge and the learning methods that impact lifelong knowledge. A key driving philosophy behind every initiative at KIIT School of Management is called CIA which translates into concept, illustration, and application.

Three core operating principles form the fundamental of how the institute and its pedagogy operates. First, the institute not only believes in imparting knowledge to its students by gives them the opportunity to reflect on what they learnt. Secondly, there is a very heavy focus on skills and emphasis on what can students deliver through the skills. Skill development is an essential component of the education system comprising workshops, experiences, and industry interactions. Third, unlike most other institutions, KIIT School of Management has a very heavy focus on attitudes and personality. The experiences and exposure that a student receives at KIIT are geared to build the right attitudes, abilities, and personality.

As a result of such expansive efforts, one of the core measures based on which KIIT measures success is termed lifelong employability index. Employability is the measure of how ready a student is to join the industry and the level of professional skills which a student acquires. To enable this, the institute organises a number of industry interactions and mentorship opportunities for its students. These interactions are targeted at plugging the education-industry gap.

There are two parts to the course, one comprises compulsory courses requiring around 60 hours of class and the second is electives requiring 30 hours of class. Industry interactions are an essential part of the learning process and the institute regularly calls professionals from the industry or practicing consultants who conduct workshops.

The pedagogy is not geared solely toward conceptual knowledge but toward associated knowledge and its relation to professional skills. For example, the institution provides for an assessment and development centre offered by industry personnel who are trained in SHL methodologies. Similarly, sessions are conducted across every stream and subject so that students acquire the professional competencies needed to function effectively.

During the course of a student’s tenure at KIIT, s/he is exposed to at least four conclaves. They are the finance conclave, national marketing conclave, HR conclave in collaboration with NHRDN, and a general management conclave. These conclaves are purposed with providing students insights on the practical and current aspects of the four functions in the industry.

KIIT School of Management is very committed to articulating roles for every stakeholder in the process to derive its goals. These goals take the form of actionable objectives, and objectives in turn provides the measures and targets to achieve them. The students are empowered to expand and elaborate their short-term, medium-term, and long-term targets. As a result, students take complete ownership of their self-development and that is the key reason why they turn out as industry-ready professionals. In brief, every stakeholder in the process starting from the student to the faculty is in charge of powering the learning journey. As a result, the institute is able to sustain a very strong performance culture.
