Differentiator: Strategic tie-ups with companies

Established under the aegis of the Jagannath Gupta Memorial Educational Society, a registered non-profit organization, the school offers PGDM (Marketing, Finance, and Human Resource) and PGDM (International Business).Students of the PGDM (IB) go to MDIS, Singapore for a one-week certificate course.

Dr. (Cdr.) Satish Seth is the current director of the institute. As the industry rethinks human resources in a VUCA world, JIMS is trying to bridge the gap between the students and the industry. “For this, you need faculty with good and requisite industry background apart from exposure on best practices, trends etc though guest lectures, seminars and conferences,” Dr Seth said.

2013 was a good year for JIMS in terms of strategic tie-ups. The feather in the cap was with KPMG when we signed the MoU in July 2013. They had started a new vertical in telecom and 50 of our students took part in an online telecom course. After several rounds of interviews, tests and group discussions, five students have been assured permanent placement in KPMG.

JIMS also had a tie-up with ICICI Securities where executive trainees of the firm took a course in financial planning and sales management. Students of the school also took part in the training. The institute is also in final rounds of discussion with YES Bank and as part of that last year it started a course in banking and treasury operations was introduced.

The institute started PGDM In international business in 2010 when it realized that global exposure is an essential part of a student’s learning. So it tied up with Management Development Institute of Singapore and the first batch of 50 students in February 2011 went to Singapore for a one-week Certificate Course in “Understanding Asian Business Environment”. MDIS conducted this course in 2012 and 2013 also. However discussions are currently on with NUS, Singapore for conducting similar course in December 2014. The school has tie-ups with nine other foreign schools apart from MDIS such as Cologne University of Applied Sciences, Nottingham University, Malaysia, Deakin University, Australia, Westminster University, UK, which will get operationalized this year, and also ENPC, Paris.
