People Matters L&D Awards 2018: Recognizing excellence in learning

As businesses head towards the next frontier of growth, having an agile mindset and continuously investing in skilling is the core focus area of almost every organization. While ‘learning and development’ has been a crucial part of every talent strategy for some years now, the function in itself has gone through tremendous changes. The ongoing transformation of work, the need for people and organizations to constantly upgrade capabilities, and shifts in employee preferences demand new approaches to learning and career development. From micro-learning to self-paced learning, various new approaches have paved the way into the learning segment, pushing organizations to rethink and redesign their L&D strategies.

Some organizations with their best practices are not only transforming the career and lives of their employees but are also inspiring other companies to do great work. And to appreciate and recognize the efforts of the HR and L&D leaders of these organizations, People Matters every year organizes L&D Awards. From 270 applications in 2016 to 350 in 2017, across industries like IT/ITES, financial & insurance services, real estate, e-commerce, professional services and manufacturing etc., People Matters L&D awards has witnessed participation by some of the leading Indian and global organizations. Companies such as Infosys, Genpact, Pepsico, Apollo, Kotak Mahindra, Viacom 18 Media Pvt. Ltd and many others have participated in the awards previously.

Some of the last year’s winners include Bajaj Allianz, Jindal Power,  Concentrix and Infosys BPO.

This year again, People Matters is back with its next segment of award series which is to be held on 23rd October 2018 in Grand Hyatt Mumbai. Through these awards, exceptional L&D practices and organizations who have developed and implemented a ground-breaking approach towards solving learning challenges resulting in increased ROI will be recognized.

The People Matters L&D awards 2018 includes five categories:

As technology advances, skills are becoming obsolete faster than ever. Deloitte’s 2018 survey revealed that 61 percent of the survey respondents were actively redesigning jobs around artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and new business models, and 42 percent believed automation will have a major impact on job roles over the next two years. The rapid technological advancement hence calls for future tech skill building. Therefore, under this category, practices that organizations are adapting for future-proofing their organizations with the change in technology trends will be recognized.

Best in L&D Technology and Analytics

There are millions of learning assets and modes used by L&D professionals across the world. However, one cannot prove what specific kind of learning experience will be best for each individual. Hence, to enhance the impact of learning & development programs, many organizations today are leveraging technology (proprietary or market available). This category of awards will, therefore, recognize the excellence of organizations in L&D technology and analytics.

Best in Building Self-Learning Culture

One significant enabler of a 21st-century career is an organizational focus on building a culture of learning. According to a research, companies that practice a growth mindset, create “designed growth” and stretch assignments, and openly discuss mistakes to promote learning are three times more profitable and have up to four times better retention than those that do not. As many organizations strive to build a self-learning culture in their organizations through inbuilt programs or HR service providers, L&D Awards, under this category will recognize the excellence in creating a pervasive culture of self-learning that drives speed, performance, and results.
