Build your skills, not your resume.   –Sheryl Sandberg

Never have these words been rendered more true than today. As COVID-19 changes the realities of our lives, our businesses, and our jobs, it has become very clear that old skills and capabilities have to lead to the new for organizations to accelerate their transformation out of the downturn.

While we don’t know when the recovery will come, we know that organizations that will invest in capabilities to capture the emerging opportunities will have the best chance for a brighter future. Thus articulating critical skills for recovery, building the base of future digital skills, reimagining training at a scale in a distant world, and bringing on an experimentative mindset is the need of the hour.

It is in this direction that the People Matters L&D Annual Conference 2020 coming to your screens from 21st-22nd October aims to bring the community together to help reflect and find collective answers to uncover a new roadmap to build the foundation of a capability-driven business strategy for growth.

People Matters L&D Annual Conference 2020: Rev-Up Growth

This year’s theme ‘Rev-Up Growth’ will inspire the community to wrestle with one big question: How do we Rev-Up Growth through capability, through change interventions, and through culture in a time of uncertainty, chaos, and disruption?

In business and society, we are navigating in an unpredictable context in which most things seem outside of our control. One thing that is in our control is the capability we are building as an organization to strengthen our chances of success. How do we take on that opportunity?

This year’s agenda will wrap around five main pillars of business requirements. We have also intentionally added one component for personal development that will be open to all people leaders in the organization.

Rev-Up Capability

l&d

This will focus on designing learning interventions in a distanced world. In our new context, people must play multiple, rapidly-shifting roles - often remotely from one another. More than ever, we’re witnessing an accelerated need to nurture lifelong learning mindsets and boost digital, analytical, and technical skills. How do we tackle this conversion? And how do we manage tech-driven L&D interventions for scale? How do we tie up ROI directly especially in times of immense cost pressure?

In times of rapid change, learning must do more than just expand knowledge. How can we design our interventions to maximize education at a benefit-added level, particularly as we remain at a physical distance? And how can we cast this distance as an opportunity for learning, rather than a drawback or a burden?

Rev-Up Leadership

l&d

This theme will focus on Leadership Reboot: Identification, Development & Alignment. Rebooting for success starts with leadership. Identify, pinpoint, and implement new frameworks in action and develop the mindsets required to guide teams and enable a more versatile recovery.

Traditional structures have been redefined and altered. What does that mean for alignment and organizational development? As leaders, how can we reach the ideal vantage point to survey our transformed world?

Rev-Up Culture

l&d

This theme will focus on designing & implementing culture change. Robustness and resilience are crucial, but what does it mean to be actively Antifragile? Explore how to build an Antifragile structure, one that addresses culture & change at three levels: individuals, teams, and organizations.

Rev-Up Digital Skills

l&d

This theme will focus on remote coaching, facilitation & engagement techniques. Unsettled times call for vigorous responses. To best serve the organization of tomorrow, look to Digital Reskilling on steroids: active reskilling, upskilling, and cross-skilling at scale, with ultra-functional learning strategies that put that new knowledge to work and with a strong focus on adoption and learner engagement.

Rev-Up Yourself!

l&d

This is undoubtedly the best time to invest in yourself. Develop power skills for leaders in the virtual world like problem definition & prioritization, engagement & alignment, virtual facilitation, from data to storytelling, designing interventions, virtual collaboration tools and analytics & train the trainer, and many more.

In addition, learn new ways of designing and executing virtual meetings, virtual workshops and one2one coaching conversations and give you the ammunition to help you transition from the physical to the virtual space successfully to uncap the enormous potential of virtual distributed teams.
