Earlier leaders moved vertically up the hierarchy. Few companies promoted the practice of leaders getting regular cross functional experiences or cross regional experiences. Today the situation has changed further: it is not only about transitions within an organization but it is also about global shifts. Indian multinationals have their leaders moving into roles on all continents. Estimates of outright failure in the first 18 months range from 38% to over half. There is a strong need to support our leaders in such a way that we set them up for success. We will be sharing some stories of people who have made these transitions and how they were supported.
