Women leadership in Corporate India is largely missing due to the crisis of a weakening pipeline at the middle manager level. While the male – female ratio is around 30% at the entry level in most organizations, at the middle layer the ratio falls to half. This dramatically reduces the female pool available to reach senior leadership roles. With fewer women at the top, the solutions are skewed, as only half the work group is being considered for leadership roles.
It is intuitive to read that gender inequality means not only foregoing the important contributions that women make to the economy, but also wasting years of investment in educating girls and young women. Clearly, gender inclusivity is a topic of economic and business interest.
