Benevity appoints Lance Ludman as Chief Financial Officer

Employee and customer engagement solutions platform Benevity has appointed Lance Ludman as Chief Financial Officer, effective 21 December. He fills a position that has been empty for several months, since former CFO Candice Li stepped down in August.

Ludman will be joining from edtech company Dreambox Learning, and brings over 20 years of experience in financial strategy, financial operations, and corporate development across multiple industries. He was previously CFO at cloud software firm Blackbaud Enterprise, and before that Director of Corporate Development at Lockheed Martin subsidiary Savi Technology.

"Lance is precisely the type of financial executive who will get us [where we want to be],” said Kelly Schmitt, Benevity’s Chief Executive Officer. “He is a great addition to our team given his shared passion for doing good, alignment with Benevity’s culture and experience leading purpose-driven, high-growth technology companies.”

Quite a few members of Benevity's current C-suite leadership took up their current positions within the last two years: Chief Technology Officer Jane Moran originally joined in 2021 as Chief Data Officer and had her position revamped this April, Chief Product Officer Scott Lee was hired last September, Chief People Officer Janine Speer joined last August, and Schmitt herself was promoted from the CFO role to CEO in January 2021.
