Flipkart employees to choose their own benefits
Flipkart has introduced a new flexible benefits policy- FlexBen which will allow employees to customize their benefits package based on their individual needs. According to the company, this move will offer greater flexibility and choice in selecting and funding employee benefits.
Smriti Krishna, CHRO at Flipkart shared in media, “The FlexBen program is universal and inclusive as it provides benefits coverage equally to all employees. For example, through this plan we offer coverage for LGBT couples, choice of additional childcare or parent care coverage and more options for single employees.”
The FlexBen policy which will allow employees a choice in designing their own benefits package will also include multiple enhanced benefits covering surrogacy, mental well-being, gender reassignment surgery, etc.
This move is a result of an employee engagement survey which revealed that around 50 percent of Flipkart employees choose benefits and policies as an important attraction and retention driver. The survey also revealed that 20 percent employees asked for more flexibility in benefits and 10 percent asked for wellness centers and gym benefits.
The FlexBen program is universal and inclusive as it provides benefits coverage equally to all employees. Singh added, “Through this plan we offer coverage for LGBT couples, choice of additional childcare or parent care coverage and more options for single employees. We are proud to be not only the first e-commerce organization in the country to lead this initiative but also to be one of the first few companies in India to do this.”
