After working for two years, Simran Sethi, one of the key Netflix executive overseeing original content in India, is leaving the company.

Last year in December, another Indian executive Swati Shetty, Former Director for International Originals and Acquisitions had also stepped down from the company. The company is now searching for Shetty’s replacement who will likely be based out of Mumbai.

Recently, Bela Bajaria was appointed as the Head of International non-English TV originals. Bajaria replaced Eric Barmack who was serving as the Vice-President and has now started his own production firm.

According to reports, Netflix sees India as a lucrative market and plans to increase investment in the country. In April this year, chief content officer Ted Sarandos had said that Netflix's content investment in India is helping it grow subscriptions and watch time. 

Netflix has commissioned around 12 original series and about 22 original local language films in the country so far. Of this, around 15 new original Indian films are expected to be available to its members across the world by the end of 2020.

The company opened its India office in Mumbai last year. The firm is reportedly expected to double its employee headcount in the country in the coming months.
