Companies defer expat hiring %26 turn to Indians

Conservative estimates from hiring agencies and HR pundits suggest that hiring of expatriates across levels is down 15-20%. The situation is unlikely to improve anytime soon, they say.

Conservative estimates from hiring agencies and HR pundits suggest that hiring of expatriates across levels is down 15-20%. The situation is unlikely to improve anytime soon, they say.

"We have seen some decline in expat hiring activity at the beginning of the year. Due to several factors, expected decline this year would be 15-20%. Before that, expat hiring was increasing at 10-15% annually during the past five years," said Rajesh Kumar, chief executive officer of MyHiringClub.com, a recruitment-tendering platform for Asia and Gulf/Middle-East.
