Creating Opportunities: Pune and Ranchi in Spotlight
In a study conducted by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry in India (ASSOCHAM), Pune and Ranchi surfaced as cities creating maximum number of job opportunities in India, amongst the remaining tier II and tier III cities.
The study was carried in the first quarter of 2010-11. Biting a huge chunk of the market, Pune took the lead with 19.5 per cent, the prime sectors under review were ITeS, IT, banking, education and automobiles. Lucknow followed by 14.3 per cent and Pondicherry after that with 10.5 per cent.
In tier III cities Ranchi took the lead with 16.8%, and were followed by Mangalore and Mysore. The sectors under limelight in the city were energy, construction, metals, electronics and telecom.
PM’s Take: With the advent of modernization, smaller cities are slowly but surely receiving long due attention on the employment front, it won’t be long before job opportunities created by these start attracting employees from bigger shores!
