Ferrari to unveil new leadership structure on Jan 10

Ferrari to unveil new leadership structure on Jan 10

In what is seen as Ferrari’s new CEO Benedetto Vigna's first major moves, the Italian luxury sports car maker has announced its plans to unveil a new corporate structure in January.

According to a report in Reuters, the planned reorganisation, which will be detailed on January 10, 2022, is consistent with Ferrari's "strategic goals of exclusivity, excellence and sustainability.”

“Key figures in the new organisational framework have been already identified through internal promotions and new hires, and will join the company starting from next month. The new management structure will ‘further foster innovation, optimise processes and increase collaboration both internally and with partners,” the carmaker said.

As part of the leadership shake-up, Ferrari’s Chief Technology Officer Michael Leiters, Chief Manufacturing Officer Vincenzo Regazzoni, and Chief Brand Diversification Officer Nicola Boari will leave the company.

While Leiters, a German national who joined Ferrari in 2014, has helped develop Ferrari's recent most successful models, including the 2019's SF90 Stradale and this year's 296 GTB, the company’s first two hybrid electric cars, Boari oversaw Ferrari's push into luxury, with the unveiling in June of its first in-house fashion collection.

The organisational shake-up is seen as one of the first major moves by Vigna, who joined the company in September with the mandate of transitioning its vehicles to electric power.

Vigna joined Ferrari from STMicroelectronics, a semiconductor maker, where he served as president of its Analog, Micro-electromechanical Systems and Sensors Group, ST’s largest and most profitable operating business in 2020.

Vigna’s appointment had come as a surprise to many, given he had not previously worked for an automotive company or a luxury brand.
