Former UBS India MD to join Deutsche Bank as investment head

With deal flow picking up in India, global investment banks have started hiring for their top posts. Deutsche Bank has hired Ravi Shankar, former managing director and head of coverage—India at Avista Advisory Group, as its managing director (investment banking), two persons aware of the development said on Tuesday. Shankar had quit Avista, an investment banking firm with operations across India and southeast Asia, last week. At Avista, Shankar was involved with deals such as foreign currency convertible bond (FCCB) restructuring of Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd and Suzlon Energy Ltd. The mid-market advisory firm Avista has a partnership with another US-based mid-market investment bank Houlihan Lokey. He had joined Avista in February last year after spending nine years with UBS Investment Bank.
