Digital coaching platform TaskHuman has raised $20 million in a Series B funding round led by Madrona, with participation from existing investors Impact Venture Capital, RingCentral Ventures, Sure Ventures, and USVP, alongside new investors Gaingels, PeopleTech Angels, Propel(x), and Zoom Ventures. This latest round more than doubles the total amount of funding ($35 million) TaskHuman has raised to date.

According to TaskHuman co-founder and CEO Ravi Swaminathan, the fresh funding will be used to drive global expansion in the form of scaling TaskHuman's network and recruiting more expert and specialist coaches. Ideally, said Swaminathan, TaskHuman's network will eventually acquire enough specialists that users - employees - can customise their own "dream team" of personal coaches to cater to their specific needs. On the coaches' end, he added, TaskHuman provides yet another option for them to work in the gig economy.

John Torrey, venture partner at Madrona, also highlighted the wide range of personal coaching topics thus provided, and the platform's accessibility options including real-time video on demand, as competitive advantages for TaskHuman.

“Businesses are rushing to find new ways to better serve employees, particularly as workforces become increasingly distributed. As the Future of Work emerges, organizations are looking to offer more unique benefits to attract and retain top talent,” Torrey said.

TaskHuman was founded in 2017 by Swaminathan and Head of Engineering Daniel Mazzella, with the objective of providing real-time digital coaching via one-on-one video calls. It currently has a network of around 1,000 coaches across 50 countries.
