Hiring in HR domain sees 17% increase in December 2018: Report

Hiring in the HR domain grew by 17% in December 2018, as per the Naukri JobSpeak Index for December 2018. In the month of December 2018, the recruitment activity in IT-Software witnessed a growth of 14% as compared to December 2017. Meanwhile, the Auto/Ancillary industry recorded a notable rise of 24%.

The hiring sentiment across metropolitan cities also showed a positive streak, with Bengaluru and Delhi recording a rise of 13% and 10% respectively. Overall, hiring activity saw 8% rise in December 2018 as compared to December 2017.

Commenting on the report, Sumeet Singh, CMO, InfoEdge India Ltd. said, “The year 2018 has ended with a growth in hiring across most major cities and top industries. For the past few months, IT and Auto/Auto Ancillary have been leading the growth. It has been a good year for BPO, and FMCG and we hope to see the trend in hiring to continue.” 

Further, industries which grew significantly were Oil & Gas (11%), Telecom (10%) and BPO (3%).  The Construction & Engineering industry on an average clocked in an 18% rise in job creation in December 2018 as compared to December 2017. Similarly, Sales/BD domain witnessed a growth of 5%.

City Wise hiring trends

Delhi/NCR saw a 10% rise in hiring in December 2018. FMCG industry dominated the hiring space for the capital with 10% growth year on year. Meanwhile, Chennai witnessed a rise in recruitment activity by 9%, with the Accounting industry witnessing a growth of 22%. Financial capital Mumbai posted a hiring increase of 9%, with recruitment in the FMCG industry posting a rise of 12%.

Coming to Bengaluru, recruitment activity grew by 13% in December 2018. Hiring in industry like IT-Hardware and IT- Software grew by 18% and 22% respectively
