Amazon India confirms their new Vice President

Amazon India which was recently in the news for lay-offs as a part of their global restructuring process, has promoted their Chief Financial Officer, Raghava Rao to the rank of Vice-President. 

Rao joined Amazon in 2014 as the Chief Financial Officer. According to Rao’s LinkedIn profile, Rao took over as vice-president, finance, since March. However, the company spokesperson says that Rao has been promoted recently and there is no change in the role. He continues to lead the finance function for the Amazon.

Rao joins the rank of several vice-presidents at Amazon India including Manish Tiwary, Vice-President, Category Management; Akhil Saxena, Vice-President, Customer Fulfillment, and Sriraman Jagannathan, who looks at financial services.

Rao comes with an experience of over 20 years across seven cities in 3 countries in various roles in Finance and Leadership. Prior to working at Amazon, he was working with Unilever.  Skilled in Financial Accounting & Reporting, Finance Business Partnering, Treasury & Banking, Mergers & Acquisitions, Taxation, Risk management and Supply Chain in the FMCG, Consumer Goods, and E-Commerce industry.

Rao is an engineer from IIT, Bombay and went ahead to do an MBA in Finance and Operations from IIM, Calcutta. He started his career as a Management Trainee at Unilever in 1994.
