HCL Tech to create 8,000 jobs in Nagpur, Maharashtra

HCL Technologies is acquiring about 90 acres to expand its MIHAN campus in Nagpur and creating about 8,000 local jobs in the process.

HCL Technologies has signed a pact with the Maharashtra Airport Development Company for expansion of its MIHAN campus in Nagpur which is expected to create more than 8,000 jobs for locals. 

HCL will acquire about 90 acres of land in order to add to the existing 50-acre campus in MIHAN, Nagpur, according to a statement. 

The IT major already has more than 800 employees servicing global accounts since the time that they started their business operations in April in Nagpur. The MIHAN centre offers wide-ranging services such as application development, product engineering, BPO, IT services etc. 

Once the campus is operational, it is set to employ more than 8,000 people. 

“Our IT sector has contributed to help India make its mark on the world map..this expansion of the HCL campus in Nagpur will provide many opportunities to local talent and promote growth and development in the city,” said Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways. 

HCL is also planning to conduct a recruitment initiative in Nagpur from Aug. 24 to 25 at the MIHAN campus. It is intended to seek out engineering, non-engineering, diploma and Class XII graduates and bring them into the fold by providing them career opportunities. 

“Our expansion in Nagpur is going to be part of HCL’s strategic vision to expand and bring global opportunities to Tier-II cities, beyond the large metropolises in the country,” said Apparao VV, Chief Human Resources Officer, HCL Technologies.
