I don't believe in the lump of labor fallacy - Satya Nadella

Indian origin Microsoft Chief Executive Satya Nadella does not believe in the fallacy that automation or robots will surpass the human workforce and he feels that Artificial Intelligence will complement the workforce rather than eat their work pie.

In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph about robots versus human labor, he mentioned that he doesn’t support labor fallacy and don’t know what all jobs are going to be there. If robots do replace humans, he says mechanisms such as universal basic income may be needed, drawing comparisons with the labor movement, but that humans will always need jobs.”

If robots do replace humans, he says mechanism such as universal basic income may be needed, drawing comparisons with the labor movement but that humans will always need jobs. He said, “There is a certain amount of dignity to what is work, so we need to have an incentive system.”

Nadella feels that this year two things are necessary; the first is to have more discussion about the morals of AI and second the values of the engineers and companies which are into Artificial Intelligence. “So that the choices we make don’t cause us to create systems with bias that’s the tangible thing we should be working on,” reported the UK newspaper.

The MIT Technology Review last week reported that Microsoft is creating a tool which will automate the identification of bias in a series of various AI algorithms. This device can help the business make use of AI without unintentionally discriminating against any particular group of people.
