President asks IITs to attract post-graduate students

President Pranab Mukherjee advised IITs to devise strategies to attract post-graduate students and researcher from under-graduate courses. According to Mukherjee, the scarcity of students pursuing higher education will deprive the country of talent specialized personnel in the long run, which constitutes an essential part of the knowledge economy. Mukherjee also suggested to "expeditiously" implement the Kakodkar committee report to enable India to emerge a leader in research, innovation and patents.
