Udacity has entered into an association with LetzConnect, a Chennai-based edtech platform facilitating skill development opportunities for university and college students in India. The Silicon Valley-based platform will tap LetzConnect’s expansive network and extend its cutting-edge lifelong learning resources to college and university students and enhance their employability. LetzConnect would hold exclusive rights and help Udacity to reach out to academic institutions in the country.

The partnership is aimed at enabling Indian students to acquire and upgrade skills in cutting-edge technologies and assume high-growth job roles of the future that will continue to be in-demand throughout 2020 and beyond.

Speaking on the partnership, Lalit Singh, COO, Udacity, commented, “All students expect high-value jobs after they graduate from college. As a rapidly-progressing digital-first economy, India is rife with such job opportunities. Learners just need to skill themselves up in the relevant domain to become job-ready. Our partnership with LetzConnect is a step towards enabling Indian college and university students to bridge the skill-gap and emerge on the other side as new-age professionals specializing in emerging technologies.”

As LetzConnect focuses on employability to deliver advanced skilling and employment for its user base of college students across India, with this partnership, the edtech platform hopes to provide its students more learning opportunities and industry-backed certification programs, following which it provides employment options to the programs' students through job fairs.

It is no doubt that the skill gap has emerged as a major concern for students, professionals, and businesses alike in today’s technologically-transforming world. While the awareness of the need for upskilling and re-skilling to thrive in the modern jobs landscape is increasing, yet filling emerging job roles still remains a challenge. As per a report by Great Learning, close to 97,000 positions related to analytics and data remained empty in the country due to a lack of qualified talent. In such a scenario, Udacity’s Nanodegree programs in cutting-edge technologies – such as AI, machine learning, deep learning, automation, etc. – can help bridge this gap and help students, job seekers, and working professionals become job-ready for these emerging job roles.
