A Business Standard report highlights that, among the increasing incidents of job fraud cases, the automobile sector is the worst hit. All the major automobile players, including Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) and Bajaj Auto have reported a rise in these incidents.

Job seekers receive an email or SMS in the name of a prominent auto company that eventually asks for payment by cash or cheque to an account. Fraudsters register domain names that sound similar to the ones used by organisations.

Most of these frauds are targeted at fresh graduates from Tier-II or Tier-III cities or rural areas, inviting applications with a security deposit.

Apart from the police taking up investigation of these cases actively, most of the major automobiles have taken up initiatives such as general public announcements, newspaper insertions, and announcements on their job sites.

Delhi/NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh have reported the maximum number of incidents of job fraud in the country.
