India Inc puts increased emphasis on wooing new generation

In May, Citi India launched a generational network in Mumbai, its first such initiative in Asia Pacific and its second generational network worldwide. The network, which aims to integrate generations, is being spearheaded by Rahul Shukla, head of corporate banking at Citi India and other members of top management. The network has started sending out mailers and teasers, planning flash mobs, street plays, museum visits with youngsters and reverse mentoring, among other initiatives. Like Citi, others such as Coca Cola, P&G, and Bharti Airtel are putting an increased emphasis on generational diversity with a multipronged aim: understand the pulse of the younger generation, attract and retain top quality talent besides figuring out the psyche of young consumers.
