There is reason for cheer in the beginning of the New Year. According to reports released by two job portals, the country has witnessed increase in hiring across sectors last month.
The Monster Employment Index, which is a monthly estimate of Indian online job demand, reached 113 in January 2011, which is a climb of 27% as compared to last year. Confirming the optimism in the market, Naukri's Job Speak index went up 969 in January 2011 from to 808 in the same time a year ago.
According to Monster.Com, the travel and tourism sector observed a 56% growth from January 2010 to January 2011. Second in the list was the retail sector which saw a growth of 55%. Education led in all industry sectors in month-on-month growth (7%). The government/PSU/ defence sector followed seeing a 6% monthly growth.
The report by Naukri.Com revealed that all top industry sectors registered positive monthly growth in January as compared to December. Interestingly both, IT and ITES sector observed strong hiring trends this January with the index moving up by 11% and 6% last month as compared to December.
