Indian professionals are now researching about organizations even before they are applying for jobs there. LinkedIn in its 3rd edition of 2016 Indian Talent Trends Report shares the rising demand from Indian professionals to gain access to valuable company information while changing jobs. The Survey also says that limited information shared by a company impedes a recruiter’s efforts in attracting top quality talent.

According to the Survey, about 90% professionals want to hear about new opportunities,67% professionals want to learn about a company’s culture and values, 53% professionals are interested in an employee’s perspective about the company.

"In India, where job seekers are digitally savvy, it makes business sense to invest in a strong online presence, and be discoverable, to tell the story about your company's employer brand effectively. More than ever, companies need to take control of their employer brand, given the thirst for information from prospective employees who may have many alternative career options. By proactively sharing information that accurately profiles their companies, such as a company's culture and what it is like to work at a particular company, recruiters are fostering a great candidate journey that could yield better results," Irfan Abdulla, Director Talent Solutions, LinkedIn India

Three key findings of the report which can help recruiters address some of the challenges faced by the Indian professionals are:

Indian professionals want to hear from you: Whether active or passive, 90% Indian professionals are interested in hearing about new jobs opportunities. Those changing jobs are most interested in learning about a company’s culture (67%), perks and benefits (54%) and employee perspectives (53%).

Share more information, be more discoverable:  After hearing about a job, Indian professionals don’t apply right away. Instead, 58% look up a company’s website and 46% read company reviews. Indian professionals are more likely to read company reviews than their global counterparts (19%). In addition, 39% professionals browse employee profiles of the prospective company - highlighting the necessity to create a culture that empowers employees to be brand ambassadors on social media.

Break the roadblocks for Indian job switchers: Not knowing enough about a company remains a challenge for Indian job switchers. Forty percent (40%) find it harder to negotiate their salary and 39% don’t receive feedback on their job application, higher than the global average of 26%. In fact 31% don’t know what it’s like to work in a company they plan to move on to.

LinkedIn surveyed 932 LinkedIn members in India between January and March of 2016.
