Hiring trends in HR& Admin sees 13% rise- Report

Recruitment for functional areas like HR and Marketing observed a growth of 13% & 12% respectively. Bangalore & Chennai saw positive growth in hiring and clocked in 18% and 13% respectively.

The Naukri JobSpeak Index for March 2019, at (2,378), marked a 12% rise in hiring activity from March 2018 (2,129).  

The IT- industry has shown continuous growth in the recruitment landscape over the past six months. Continuing with the trend, the industry in March 2019 recorded a notable rise of 38% growth. Recruitment for functional areas like HR and Marketing observed a growth of 13% & 12% respectively. Bangalore & Chennai saw positive growth in hiring and clocked in 18% and 13% respectively.

Commenting on the report, Sumeet Singh, CMO, InfoEdge India Ltd. said, “The JobSpeak index continues with its positive growth in hiring with a 12% rise when compared to the same period last year. Our latest Hiring outlook survey showed 89% recruiters from the IT industry stating that new jobs and replacement hiring will play a strong role in hiring. Hopefully, the momentum will be sustained in the coming months.”

Hiring Trends - Industry 

The industries in March 2019 which saw growth in recruitment activity were - Construction/Engineering (13%), BPO/ITES (9%), Insurance (6%), FMCG (5%), Education (7%) and IT – Hardware (3%). Since the beginning of the year, IT Software has been on a hiring spree. On the other hand, industries such as Auto Ancillary and Banking & Financial services saw a dip of 8% and 15% in hiring respectively

Hiring Trends – Functional Area 

Recruitment activity for IT - Software continued to grow, clocking in 30% rise year-on-year. Other functional areas such as Sales & BD, ITES/BPO and IT – Hardware, and Site Engineering recorded a rise of 5%, 9%, 5% and 2% respectively for March 2019 viz-a-viz March 2018.

Hiring Trends - Experience

Demand for mid-level executives, in the experience band of 4-7 years grew by 14% whereas recruitment for entry-level jobs, with an experience band of 0-3 years, witnessed a rise of 12%. Recruitment activity for mid-management roles with 8-12 years of experience grew by 9%, while senior management roles with 13-16 years of experience recorded a 5% rise in hiring. Moreover, hiring for leadership roles with experience band of 16+ years remained flat.
