Emerging Technologies and The Next Era of Workforce Transformation: Interview

Are you ready for the Skills shift? Conduent's Govind Srinivasan, Global L&D Leader, shares the key factors shaping the landscape.

The future of learning must be intricately linked to the current workforce transformation. This involves delving into how emerging technologies are poised to revolutionize the learner experience, making education more adaptive, interactive, and practical in preparing individuals for the evolving demands of the modern workplace.

People Matters interviewed Govind Srinivasan - Global L&D Leader, Conduent, to dive deeper into the trends. This conversation was part of a week called "Building a Skills-First Organisation," brought to you in partnership with Skillsoft, where we aim to help organizations reflect on the change that's underway and define strategic learning practices that will help them thrive.

Govind is a learning leader with experience in large multinational organizations, including IBM and Conduent (formerly Xerox Services).

Here are the top reflections this conversation covered:

1. Embracing Hybrid Work Models and Digital Transformation:

How should learning functions adapt to hybrid work models and rapidly changing technological landscapes? Organizations must meet employees where they are, whether remote, hybrid, or in-office, and ensure that learning opportunities are accessible and relevant.

2. Challenges in Seamless Learning Integration:

Integrating new technologies like AI and machine learning into learning platforms can be resource-intensive and complex. Significant challenges are ensuring a seamless learning experience that doesn't overwhelm learners and embedding learning within daily workflows without causing disruptions.

3. Personalized and Adaptive Learning Experiences

Organizations should focus on providing hyper-personalized learning experiences using advanced technologies. These experiences should be tailored to the learner's pace, level, and style, emphasizing meeting each employee's specific needs.

4. Curiosity and Continuous Learning Culture:

Encouraging a culture of continuous and self-directed learning is essential. Innovative approaches such as providing safe, simulated environments, using immersive technologies like AR and VR, and utilizing AI to create adaptive learning paths can help sustain curiosity and promote effective learning behaviours

5. Measuring Learning Effectiveness and Engagement:

Traditional models like Kirkpatrick's levels of evaluation are commonly used, but there is a growing emphasis on measuring learning stickiness and engagement. This includes tracking whether learners frequently return to learning platforms, complete their learning journeys, and how these activities correlate with performance, career growth, and retention.
