Top level exits in AirAsia India

Another wave of top-level exits has hit the AirAsia India again. According to ET,  five functional heads have put down their papers including Head of Human Resource and four others - Vidhu Nair (head of ancillary and cargo), Nantha Kumar (head of engineering), Navdeep Lamba (head of security), and G Sampath (director of engineering). Except for the HR head – who was asked to leave others have left on their own accord.  Amongst the five, Lamba and Nair have left within six months of their joining.

Prior to these exits, Arun Khanna, CFO has left recently and a year back, chief executive, Mittu Chandilya has left the airlines. As reported by People Matters in 2016,  Chandilya has led AirAsia India from June 1, 2013. His contract got over on March 31st, 2016 and after him, Amar Abrol took over as CEO and MD of the AirAsia India.

As we all know that, AirAsia India is a joint venture in which Tata Sons and AirAsia Berhad of Malaysia hold 49% each and the rest 2% is held by two Tata Group executives, there are big chances that the next head of human resources at AirAsia India might come from the Tata Group, as per media reports.

AirAsia India started its operations in June 2014 and became the first foreign airline to set up a subsidiary in India. As it offers affordable flying, it is the fourth largest low-cost carrier in India, as of May 2017, after IndiGo, SpiceJet, and GoAir with a market share of 3.3%.
