Wipro to move 350 employees to Alight

Wipro is moving its business to Illinois-based Alight Solutions after divesting about $110 Mn from Workday and Cornerstone OnDemand.

The divestment from Workday and Cornerstone OnDemand would mean that 350 employees currently engaged in Workday and Cornerstone OnDemand functions would be absorbed by Alight, according to media reports.

In partnership with Workday, Wipro provided its clients consulting and IT services tapping into Workday’s SAAS-based HR solutions for payroll and managing finances. Cornerstone OnDemand was key in helping Wipro help its clients manage talent needs across different teams.

While Workday and Cornerstone OnDemand have targeted HR services solutions, Alight focuses on human resource management services. In a press release, Wipro said they will concentrate on investing in cloud applications and growing its Appriro brand. Wipro and Alight entered a $1.6 Bn deal last year which would be spread over a decade.

The Bengaluru-headquartered IT services giant will process the $110 Mn deal in parts. About $100 Mn will be paid once the agreement is closed and the remaining $10 Mn will be paid at the end of a 12 month period.
