Andrea Rigogliosi takes over as CEO of Diesel

Diesel has appointed Andrea Rigogliosi as its new chief executive, naming a seasoned luxury and retail executive to lead the Italian fashion brand through a volatile period for the global apparel industry.

The appointment was announced by Diesel and its parent, the OTB Group, with Rigogliosi set to report directly to Ubaldo Minelli, chief executive of OTB. He succeeds the interim leadership structure that had overseen the brand during a prolonged industry slowdown.

Rigogliosi joins Diesel from Prada Group’s Miu Miu, where he served as global head of retail and commercial. In that role, he oversaw worldwide business growth and the expansion of the brand’s distribution network, according to a company statement.

Before joining Prada Group, Rigogliosi held a number of senior roles within LVMH, including president of Europe at Fendi, as well as general manager positions for France and Monaco, and Italy, at Christian Dior Couture. Earlier in his career, he worked in managerial roles at Poltrona Frau Group and L’Oréal Luxury Products.

Renzo Rosso, founder of Diesel and chairman of OTB Group, said the appointment came at a critical moment for the brand and the wider fashion sector. He said Diesel occupied a distinct position in the market as an alternative to traditional luxury, with an emphasis on inclusivity and accessibility.

Rosso added that he had been closely involved in steering the brand through a difficult market phase alongside the management team, and expressed confidence that Rigogliosi would help unlock Diesel’s next phase of growth.

Rigogliosi’s appointment comes as fashion groups grapple with uneven consumer demand, rising costs and shifting spending patterns across key markets. With Diesel positioning itself between premium streetwear and luxury fashion, the new chief executive will be tasked with sustaining momentum while sharpening the brand’s commercial and global footprint.
