Paras Health has appointed Balkishan Sharma as its new Chief Human Resources & Business Transformation Officer, marking a senior leadership change as the hospital network sharpens its operational and growth focus.
Sharma announced his move on LinkedIn, stating he had joined Paras Health in February 2026. His appointment follows nearly seven years at Max Healthcare Institute Ltd., where he most recently served as Senior Vice President and Head – HR Operations, overseeing human resources across eight hospitals.
At Max Healthcare, Sharma managed HR operations for facilities with a combined capacity of around 2,100 beds, a topline of approximately ₹3,000 crore per annum and a workforce of roughly 10,000 employees, according to details on his professional profile. His remit covered business strategy, change management, talent development, compensation, employee relations and culture-building.
Paras Health, headquartered in Gurugram, operates a multi-city hospital network in North and East India. The group has in recent months participated in industry forums focused on digital adoption, infrastructure strengthening and system-wide healthcare improvements, including the CII Northern Region Healthcare Excellence Conclave, where its leadership highlighted the importance of trust, outcomes and implementation in healthcare delivery.
Sharma brings more than 18 years of experience in hospital HR leadership. Before Max Healthcare, he held senior HR roles at BLK Super Speciality Hospital and Fortis Healthcare, overseeing workforce planning and talent systems across multi-speciality facilities in Delhi, Jaipur and other cities. He is an MBA in Human Resources from Madurai Kamaraj University and has completed an executive leadership programme at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
In his public statement, Sharma said he was “happy to share” that he was beginning the new role at Paras Health. His mandate combines human resources with business transformation, signalling a broader operational brief at a time when hospital chains are under pressure to balance expansion, cost discipline and clinical quality.
Healthcare providers across India have been strengthening HR and transformation functions as they scale capacity, invest in digital systems and compete for specialised medical talent.
Workforce productivity and leadership depth are emerging as key differentiators in a sector grappling with rising patient demand and regulatory scrutiny.
Sharma’s appointment places a seasoned hospital HR executive at the centre of Paras Health’s next phase. The extent to which the combined HR and transformation portfolio accelerates execution across its network will be closely watched.
