Yum India splits into three operations

• By People Matters

New Delhi: With the target to improve sales and make operations more swift in a consumer market  that is gradually slowing down, food brand Yum! has made changes in its management structure. Yum India operations will be led by three different heads. Hereon, Yum India will not report to the company HQ. The operations have been divided into three divisions - KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.

The recent developments were the outcome of Yum! Brands chairman David Novak’s resignation in May this year and the brand globally diving its operations into two independent companies. One will manage three brands KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell and another will take care of the China business, which has been losing its market share drastically. With the split strategy, Yum is aiming at substantial growth in the business.

Former Yum India President Niren Chaudhary had been elevated to the position of Global President in June last year to head the KFC business across Asia, Canada and Latin America and the Caribbean. While KFC operations in India are being led by Rahul Shinde, Unnat Varma is leading the Pizza Hut business. Charge for the fledgling Taco Bell business has been given to Ankush Tuli.

Gaurav Marya, promoter of franchising and licensing firm Franchise India, said: "Yum has been in transition phase after their flagship brand Pizza Hut started faltering about three years back. In developing markets, Yum continues to face a huge challenge and India numbers still don't look robust. Splitting and narrowing focus on independent businesses is aimed at regaining growth momentum."
