Kyndryl to invest $2.25 billion in India, to launch AI lab, skilling initiatives

Global IT services provider Kyndryl has announced a major expansion in India, committing $2.25 billion over the next three years to modernise mission-critical infrastructure, advance artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, and foster digital talent across the country.

AI innovation and digital infrastructure
Kyndryl’s new AI Innovation Lab in Bengaluru will serve as a hub for co-creating AI-powered solutions with Indian enterprises. The lab will focus on platform engineering, cloud, data, and software development—mirroring successful models in the UK and Singapore. The company will showcase its AI-enabled operating platform, Kyndryl Bridge, at the upcoming AI Impact Summit hosted by the Government of India in February 2026.
Strategic partnership with the Indian government
Kyndryl is deepening its engagement with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) initiative. The collaboration aims to apply AI to regulatory reform and governance transformation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the move, stating, “India warmly welcomes global partners to explore the vast opportunities in our nation and collaborate with our talented youth to innovate and excel.”
Skilling and talent development
Kyndryl will invest in upskilling its workforce and launch new programs to train 200,000 beneficiaries in high-demand areas like DevSecOps, Cloud Operations, and Cybersecurity. These programs will be integrated into the NIELIT portal and supported by the Kyndryl Foundation.
The company also plans to open offices in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, partner with universities, and launch an early-career program to nurture future-ready talent.
India leads in AI workforce readiness
According to recent Kyndryl research, India leads globally in AI workforce preparedness, with 37% of business leaders confident in their teams’ readiness—well above the global average of 29%. AI adoption is accelerating, with 72% of leaders prioritising workforce training.
Serving India’s leading enterprises
Kyndryl supports a wide range of Indian organisations, including Bangalore International Airport, Canara Bank, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Honda Motorcycles, and the National Stock Exchange of India. Its services span AI, cybersecurity, and hybrid IT modernization, aligning with India’s digital public infrastructure goals.
