In a significant leadership transition, iPhone manufacturer Foxconn has named Robert Wu as its new India Representative, the company’s most senior role in the country. Wu succeeds V Lee, who has been elevated to the Chairman’s Office at Hon Hai Technology Group, Foxconn’s global parent, where he will lead business development initiatives.
Wu, who officially assumed charge this week, previously served as CEO of Sharp Corporation, a Foxconn-owned Japanese electronics firm renowned for over a century of innovation. The company stated the change was part of a “regular rotation,” emphasizing Wu’s deep experience in global technology leadership.
The Foxconn India Representative has changed due to regular rotation reasons. Robert Wu is now the India Representative, effective this week,” the company confirmed.
The leadership shift comes at a time of geopolitical uncertainty in electronics manufacturing, with India navigating challenges related to US tariffs and China’s informal restrictions on labor and technology transfers.
During his four-year tenure, V Lee steered Foxconn India to remarkable growth:
Business volume surpassed $20 billion
Workforce expanded to nearly 80,000 employees
Lee’s promotion to Assistant Vice President in the Chairman’s Office reflects Foxconn’s confidence in his strategic capabilities on a global scale.
