Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched a lateral hiring programme offering salaries of up to ₹9 lakh and a ₹50,000 joining bonus, as it steps up efforts to build capabilities in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
The hiring drive targets professionals with two to four years of experience, signalling a sharper focus on early-career talent as the IT major accelerates its transition towards an AI-led services model.
According to an internal communication reviewed by media reports, candidates who accept offers within 30 days will be eligible for the joining bonus. The company has also encouraged its existing employees to refer candidates, underscoring the role of internal networks in identifying skilled talent.
The programme is aimed at graduates and postgraduates with expertise in areas such as artificial intelligence, data engineering, cloud computing and cybersecurity — domains that are seeing sustained demand across the technology sector.
Applicants will undergo a three-stage hiring process, beginning with a skill-based assessment followed by discussions, designed to prioritise technical capability and practical expertise.
The move reflects growing urgency among IT firms to secure specialised digital talent, as competition intensifies across the industry. New hires are expected to work alongside experienced engineers, scientists and AI practitioners, with access to TCS’s internal learning ecosystem to build advanced capabilities.
The hiring push comes at a time when companies are increasingly aligning recruitment and compensation strategies with their long-term AI roadmaps. Industry data indicates that roles in AI, cloud and cybersecurity are commanding salary premiums of 20–40%, reflecting strong demand for digital transformation skills.
Rival Infosys has also recently rolled out an off-campus hiring programme offering higher compensation for roles aligned with AI development, highlighting the competitive pressure among IT services firms to attract skilled professionals.
For TCS, the lateral hiring initiative forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen its position in AI-led services, even as the battle for talent continues to intensify in India’s technology sector.
