BharatPe Co-founder Ashneer Grover accuses CEO Suhail Sameer of conspiracy, seeks removal
Ashneer Grover, Co-Founder of BharatPe has accused the company’s CEO Suhail Sameer of forming a lobby with the investors in order to remove him from the office.
In an interaction with Moneycontrol, Grover reported that Sameer had become a ‘puppet’ of the investors and was conspiring against him.
CNBC reported that the company was in the news as Grover’s allegedly used inappropriate language against one of Kotak Group’s employees. Pertaining to the incident, Kotak Group raised objections against Grover for the same. Grover was accused of using foul language while alleging that Kotak Bank failed to secure financing and allocation of the shares in beauty firm Nykaa’s initial public offering.
As the controversy spread like fire, Grover took a voluntary leave of absence till March accompanied by his wife Madhuri Grover, who is also the firm’s controller and is also accused of the fraudulent schemes in the company.
Interestingly, a few days back, Sameer had said in a public statement that there are least chances of Grover leaving the company. Yet, Grover’s allegations against Sameer reflects the internal breakdowns.
To Moneycontrol, Grover said, “After having done everything and giving someone full degree of freedom to operate, if you operate in a manner and side with the investors when I need you the most, then you don't enjoy my confidence.”
As Sameer was hired by Grover in 2020 and nominated as the CEO of the company in 2021, Grover noted that he would exercise the power to withdraw the nomination of Sameer from the position of CEO.
