As the festive season is just around the corner, e-commerce platforms have begun their holiday prep.

Flipkart and Amazon, the two leading ecommerce and delivery brands, have announced jobs  in supply chain, logistics, and customer service, in order to gear up for the festive season sales.

Amazon India has reportedly created more than 90,000 direct temporary job opportunities in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, and other cities in the country. An additional 10,000 indirect employment opportunities have also been created through their partner networks. These include delivery vehicles partners, packaging vendors, housekeeping agencies, and small mom-and-pop stores under the ‘I Have Space’ local program.

In the meantime, Flipkart has hired about 50,000 people and during the six-day festive season, its indirect jobs are expected to see a rise of 30 percent (as compared to last year prior to Sept. 29).

At Amazon, the new employees will be joining the existing teams in order to help in handling the rising delivery demands during the sales’ season. Retail and ecommerce portals usually see their sales volumes skyrocket as the festive season accounts for about 60 percent of the total annual sales. Moreover, through projects such as ‘I Have Space’ that motivate local entrepreneurs to become delivery agents, Amazon has managed to expand its services to all the pincodes in India.

Flipkart has also launched ‘The Reach Project’ this year which has enabled the company to reach an additional 40 percent pincodes with having expanded their services to more than 800 small towns and cities.
