With a career that spans decades and a voice that resonates across generations, Shaan’s inspiring musical journey is one of resilience, passion, and innovation. At People Matters TechHR India,  he is all set to light up the stage at the Night Fest and share his powerful story of turning the tides and how he embraced the motto of moving ‘From inspiration to action’ as one of the most loved singers and songwriters in India and beyond.

Shaan’s versatile creative streak and humble dedication to the art of music stand out in the world of showbiz. Born into a family of musicians, with grandfather lyricist Jahar Mukherjee and father Manas Mukherjee, he faced initial struggles as he lost his father at the tender age of 13. While his mother started singing to support the family, he kickstarted his musical journey by singing jingles for advertisements. He sang his first song at the age of 17 - a line for the song “Kitni Hai Pyari Pyari Dosti Hamari'' for the movie Parinda. There was no looking back with his playback singing debut in 1999 with “Musu Musu Hasi” from Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi, which struck a chord with the youth.

Shaan’s widespread fame struck while singing along with his sister, Saagarika, as albums Naujawan and Q-Funk gained uncanny popularity. It was the 2000 piece, Tanha Dil, which shot him to sustained success. His music is known to evoke soulfulness and connection, and this helped him carve his unique niche in a world ridden with mechanical beats and loud creations.

Being showered with titles like the “Voice of Paradise”, “Golden Voice of India” and “Magician of Melody”, perhaps what made Shaan stand out was his versatility and willingness to try new and different things. Singing many genres, from Pop to Hip Hop to Ballads, and in many languages such as Bengali, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil, he truly embodies “no limits'' in his art. As a result, he has been a consistently known voice in mainstream Bollywood. He even delved into new art forms, trying his hand at acting (movie Daman) and dancing (finalist for the dance show Jhalak Dikhaja in 2013). His ‘Live Love Laugh - Shaan Se’ tour invited fans worldwide to immerse in the magic of his music and experience ultimate joy with melodies.

Come 2024, Shaan is hosting KrazyforKishore as a Radio Jockey, truly embodying the adage – “The boundaries of life, are mere creations of self." Such is his sense of self, that he doesn't ask composers for work. Yet, his humility and value for people stand out, for he believes in maintaining great relations with even new composers. Perhaps, this has enabled him to thrive and leave his indelible mark in a cut-throat world, over the years.

He strongly believes in nurturing new talent and has been a judge and mentor on popular music shows like SaReGaMa and Music Ka Maha Muqqabla. He also coaches online, teaching young students how to expand their range, develop their own style and master all kinds of vocal techniques. His passion for technique is seen in the fact that he goes a step ahead, and coaches talent on daily vocal warmups and exercises to protect their voice.

Shaan recently made headlines singing Kishor Kumar's song “Mere Samne Wali Khidki Mein” along with his son, Maahi.

Just before he takes to the mike to immerse you in nostalgia with his soothing songs, for TechHR Night Fest, he will be a part of a fireside chat with Ester Martinez, CEO and Editor-In-Chief at People Matters, taking us through his journey of music and life.

So, join us for People Matters TechHR India on August 1 and 2, 2024, at Leela Ambience, Gurugram and learn about Shaan’s way of pursuing a life of passion and purpose.
