An enormous debate has triggered in the last few years on whether or not Artificial Intelligence and Robots will take up human occupations going forward, but these are just cognitive innovations and only a single part of a gigantic transformation that is in progress. Modern technology will transform the future of work which would mean changes in work - driven by automation, the workforce – multiple talent category and also the workplace – driven by digital reality. To elaborate - on work front, rising robotics, cognitive and AI tech, manual and repetitive tasks would be handled by smart machines; the labor force will foresee a change owing to the emerging new talent acquisition platforms and contracts which will determine how best we can leverage the multi-variety talent from full-time to managed services, freelancers, gig workers, etc.; and workplace will open doors to combinations of digital reality and teaming that would rethink where work is getting done. 

Engaging with talents having new age skills will become easier as access to passive candidate proliferates, thanks to tech adoption in recruitment. As we step quickly into the intellectual revolution, the human-machine concoction will be redefined as the workforce will, more importantly, be able to invest time into critical thinking and building employer relationships at the workplace. Technology will change the manner in which we arrange errands into occupations and cultivate work culture.

That one technology that has revolutionized the entire job and recruitment scenario have been ‘Artificial Intelligence’- a noteworthy distinct advantage for organizations. With its adoption and acceptance at workplace rising, it will renovate the way we work, convey, and team up with one another. HR groups, selection representatives, and staffing supervisors are utilizing AI innovation and AI-based items to improve hiring Truth to be told, from contender to questioner, AI's transformative potential is genuinely unimaginable.

There is adequate proof that these advancements could be utilized to expand the endeavors of the workforce as opposed to replace them. In a 2018 Report the World Economic Forum anticipated that while almost 1 million occupations might be lost that were repetitive, another 1.75 million will be gained due to automation. Although the futuristic job profiles will be machine-fueled and information-driven than before, they would still require human abilities to understand and operate them, for example, critical thinking, correspondence, tuning in, understanding, and structuring, etc. As machines take over repeatable errands and the work that individuals do turn out to be less monotonous, jobs could be re-imagined in manners that wed innovation with human abilities and propels mastery in elucidation and service. Work techniques, for example, can be re-aligned. Human intelligence and thinking capabilities will be better utilized in jobs that characterize consolidation of new sorts of capacities, aptitudes, exercises, and practices expected to accomplish a task, opening opportunities for the workforce to leap to the next level of cognitive excellence.

McKinsey Report suggests that 375 million workers around the world may need to switch occupational categories and learn new skills because approximately 60% of jobs will have at least one-third of their work activities automated. This doesn’t mean loss of jobs but new opportunities to learn and equip oneself for a better profile and brilliance that will help brace up for a superior job profile work environment.

Advanced technology rise will also necessarily generate jobs related to developing and deploying new technologies. The industry expects overall spending on technology to increase by more than 50 percent between 2015 and 2030 and approx. half would be on IT services front. While the workforce engaged in these occupations is relatively small as compared to those in healthcare or construction, considering these are high-wage occupations, its impact significance would be high. By 2030, it has been estimated that this trend could create 20 million to 50 million jobs globally.

Rapid advancement due to automation is affecting India’s information technology and business process outsourcing sectors positively resulting in positive sentiments and outlook within them. These sectors have remained net job creators over the ages, and the industry estimates that they could hire up to 3 million more workers by 2025, provided job seekers can acquire the right skills to meet their changing job needs.

Thus, we seem to be at a crossroad in redefining what it means to work, to be an employer, and to contribute value and talent in newfound ways – with the advent of technology. Whether we would want to use these advances in technology merely to propel efficiency and costs cut or delve deeper to consider ways to channelize these trends better so that it can add value and meaning across employers, employees and businesses – that is for us to make! The future of work is evolving rapidly and will entail the demand for able and suitable human labor for an environment that is far from traditional or conventional. It’s time that job aspirants and recruiters rethink their customary notions of where they work, how they work, and what talents and capabilities they bring to that work.
