Aditya Birla Group appoints Deep Thomas as Chief Data Officer
Deep Thomas, who was previously working with the Tata Group has been appointed by the Aditya Birla group as the Chief Data and Analytics officer at Aditya Birla Group according to the latest media report.
As part of his new position, he would be responsible for a group-wide strategy to build to create a customer database that would underpin the diversified conglomerate’s products and sales strategy.
After the appointment of D Shivakumar, this is second top executive hire by Aditya Birla Group. D Shivakumar who had been the CEO of PepsiCo India would be taking over as the head of strategy and business development, and replacing Saurabh Agrawal. The latter had left the Aditya Birla Group to join the Tata as the Chief Financial Officer.
"There is a huge amount of data we are sitting on in telecom, garments, retail and financial services businesses,” said Santrupt Misra, Director – Group Human Resources, Aditya Birla Group. “Given that kind of data on consumers, it is important that we garner insights on that data to prepare solutions and offerings to cross-sell and up-sell. There are tremendous opportunities."
At the Tata Group, Thomas was responsible for enabling customer centricity across companies through advanced analytics, services, and products. Before joining Tata had leadership positions at Citigroup, HSBC, American Express in the US and India.
