Air India has announced the elevation of senior executive Sandeep Gupta as the Chief Pilot for its wide-body Airbus A350 fleet.

Currently Gupta is also serving as the in-charge of the airline's Hyderabad-based training centre CTE. According to a report carried out by Business Standard, the move also  comes amid Tatas-owned Air India discussing a large aircraft deal with the European aircraft maker Airbus for induction of wide-body A350 planes.

While the company is revamping the operations, the Minister of State for Civil Aviation V K Singh reported to have received more than 1000 passenger complaints against the carrier. According to a report carried out by Financial Express, Singh said, “Ministry of Civil Aviation has been receiving grievances related to air transport, including Air India, on the various issues such as refund of fares, flight issues, staff behaviour, baggage issues, overbooking of flights, etc.”

Earlier in May DGCA noted to have received complaints about passengers being denied boarding despite reaching the boarding gate on time. In response to this, Air India has been asked to compensate passengers who have suffered losses due to such activities.
