At Anthropic, Pandit will focus on helping enterprises and institutions explore practical applications of AI.

Rajat Pandit has moved from Google Cloud to Anthropic, where he will lead Applied AI for India, according to media reports. The appointment comes after almost eight years at Google Cloud and marks a new chapter in his career focused on the practical adoption of AI.

His new role would be to draw on his experience in scaling cloud and AI infrastructure while exploring how the technology can be applied across Indian enterprises and institutions.

From cloud infrastructure to applied AI

Pandit spent nearly eight years at Google Cloud, joining the company with an engineering and consulting background.

During his tenure, he gained experience in technical sales by working closely with product, engineering and sales teams. He said much of that learning came through real-world projects and conversations with industry leaders rather than formal training.

Pandit also credited mentors, colleagues, partners and customers for shaping his time at Google Cloud. The mix of technical and commercial experience, he said, continues to influence his approach to technology.

Focus on India’s AI adoption

At Anthropic, Pandit will focus on helping enterprises and institutions explore practical applications of AI.

He sees the role as an opportunity to help shape how AI is adopted across Indian businesses and institutions. He also believes the impact of these efforts could extend beyond India.

The move comes as AI companies increasingly focus on enterprise adoption, moving beyond experimentation towards applications that can deliver measurable business value.

A new AI chapter

For Pandit, the transition represents a move from cloud infrastructure towards the application of AI in real-world business settings.

His experience at Google Cloud will now inform his work at Anthropic as he focuses on helping organisations understand where and how AI can be deployed effectively.
